Book Giveaway - Donald Miller's "A Million Miles"

I have recently started reviewing books for Thomas Nelson as part of their book review bloggers program.  My second title will probably be an all-time favorite - Donald Miller's "A Million Miles in a Thousand Years."  Katie and I were sitting on the porch when the UPS man pulled up with a box that was bigger than expected... because there were TWO books included!!

The publisher (CEO Michael Hyatt) thought that the book was so good that he wanted us to give away a copy to a friend.  So I've decided to have a little fun with this.  I've teased this on Facebook and Twitter for the last week and here on my blog I'll be giving away the free copy.

Here's what will happen:

  1. You post a comment at the bottom of this post telling me why you deserve the free copy.  Include your first name or an identifying title.  Get creative!!
  2. You email me your full name and address in case I choose you as the winner. (Hans@uwalumni.com OR message me on Facebook)  IMPORTANT:  include "Donald Miller book" in the subject so I can sort through them.
  3. I'll pick a winner on Wednesday night and post something on Thursday.

If you're so inclined, please check out my blog and participate in some conversations.  Oh, did I mention I may or may not have some Nooma videos to give away later?  Shameless promotion, I know.

1st! After listing to a talk Donny gave about this book, I'm pretty excited to give it a read thru. Lets ditch the Volvo's and aspire to drive something better (Subaru maybe?).

You should give the book to Jaye Barbeau. He is a huge fan of Don Miller. I mean HUGE!

Hans, You could save my Life if my brother gets the New Donald Miller Book. My name is Scott Barbeau, and my brother (Jaye) has been talking about this book non-stop...the sooner he gets a chance to read it, the better my chance I have of getting back to my semi-normal life. He has gone so far as to talk about naming his new pet, a potbellied pig, Donald Miller Jr. I think if he gets the copy of your book, the world will be a better place. Thanks for your consideration. Hans, awesome that you had this chance to get an early copy of what looks like will be an awesome read! I am going to shamelessly throw my name into the hat. The main reason that I deserve the free copy of the book is the price. Because it is free, it is priced just at the level that I can afford. While some might question how that has anything to do with me deserving a book, I think that my statement speaks for itself, as well as for my own belief that I am deserving of a new book to read. Plus, I really, really, really like Donald Miller and anticipate really, really, really liking this book.

That is all. (Dave K)

Jaye Barbeau really needs this book. It will keep him busy for a while so he will stop emailing me about trying to win a book. :)But really, he's a huge fan and a great guy too!

Hans, my man. It is cool to see how much you've got going on. Jaye Barbeau deserves the book as a great musician, believer, and educator. He is on the front lines of educating the future...I know you've got a soft spot for that...And he convinced me to write you. The man is persuasive!! Peace to you.

I ask you to please give the book to my brother Jaye Barbeau--I am Jaye's sister Mari and we always talk about books and authors. He loves this guy Donald Miller (who I have never read but I did have a friend Lori Miller in high school who's Dad name was Don)..anyway, Jaye is a teacher, constantly giving back to his students and his community and he could really use a free book. (P.S. everything our brother Scott said was true) (PSS--Jaye-I think you are toast--since the blogger's wife wants the book--maybe she'll let you read the free copy when she's done:)

Oops--wrong tense--my friend Lori Miller's Dad Don Miller is stil alive! I wonder if he's the dude who wrote the book...not likely but he did work for the Fond du Lac Reporter for many years.
